Sound Building Supply, a local Metal Roof and Metal Building Components manufacturer, is looking for a Machine Operator. SBS has been in continuous operation for over the last 40yrs. We are pleased to offer this opportunity in our Renton, WA location!

The Machine Operator is a critical team member by supporting our success through quality work, timely service, and value based on efficient customer service.

This is a full-time position, day shift 7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, pay DOE.

This position will be in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to an office environment. We will provide training on our specific machines and processes

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Operate a sheet metal shear, brake, or roll forming machine on a daily/as needed basis.
  • Be able to use/read a micrometer, tape measure down to the 1/32”, and a protractor.
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of all storage spaces including aisles, cabinets, shelves, and warehouse in general.
  • Be able to use material handling equipment including forklifts.
  • Use all company equipment in a safe and proper manner. Comply with all safety standards.
  • Follow proper cleaning, maintenance, and reporting procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with other leadership, team members, and customers.
  • Ability to multitask and utilize effective time management during production.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to provide exemplary customer service constantly and consistently.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks with little supervision and a high degree of quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • One year of warehouse or customer service experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull carts weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

Sound Building Supply, a local Metal Roof and Metal Building Components manufacturer, is looking for an Outside Sales Representative. SBS has been in continuous operation here in the Puget Sound for over the last 40yrs. Our growth and success this year is allowing us to expand our team/family with this position.

The purpose of the Outside Sales position is to ensure customer needs are identified and met in a timely manner, achieve customer satisfaction, and meet sales objectives and goals. This position will also identify and close additional purchases of products and services provided by Sound Building Supply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Outside sales support for our customers in Seattle and north to Bellingham.
  • Build customer relationships to earn their trust.
  • Identify revenue opportunities within customers’ communities through communications, programs and other activities as needed.
  • Prospecting, qualifying, and generating sales within our established guidelines
  • Understand the price metrics / material provided by purchasing
  • Provide reporting to management as requested
  • Keep management informed of all activity
  • Remain knowledgeable and up to date on changes and developments in BPS industry
  • Additional duties as may be assigned by department supervisor or manager
  • Working remotely to meet customer needs for onsite support.

Qualifications

Excellent communication skills; comfortable in front of all levels of the organization, as well as external customers.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in the Roofing/Contracting industry in either commercial or residential.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Capable of working independently under ambiguous and/or changing conditions.
  • Comfortable using all Microsoft Office products
  • Able to read and write in English.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) highly preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience highly preferred.

 

FLSA Exempt – Salaried position

Sound Building Supply, a local Metal Roof and Metal Building Components manufacturer, is looking for a Lean Leader. SBS has been in continuous operation here in the Puget Sound for over the last 40yrs. Our growth and success this year is allowing us to expand our team/family with this position.

Key Responsibilities

The Lean Leader will focus on growth, process documentation, and process improvement projects. This position will report to the Supply Chain Manger.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Lean Skills
    • Firm grasp of 5S, the 8 Wastes, and the four pillars. Familiar with Kata, Kaizen planning, Hoshin planning and OCM.
  • Change Management
    • Drives targeted, sustainable improvement by using Lean projects to help create positive changes.
  • Communications:
    • Responsible for internal communications (written and oral)
  • Relationship/People Management:
    • Promotes and facilitates diagnosis of workflow impediments throughout the business and provides expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them
    • Develops and maintains strong relationships with functional leaders to drive success of projects and teams.
    • Promotes and facilitates lean education/experience.
  • Leadership Requirements:
    • Lead a group or team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals via improvement projects. Guide, coach, direct, and develop fellow employees.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
